Upholstery vs. reupholstery.

Upholstery is the covering, padding and related work that finishes furniture. Reupholstery renews that work on furniture you already own. Commercial upholstery can describe both services; here, we separate new projects from renewal so you can choose the right scope.

New upholstery

Start with a new design or an unfinished frame. Specify the dimensions, cushioning, material and finish before fabrication.

Reupholstery

Start with existing furniture. Assess the covers, foam and structure, then agree what will be retained, repaired or renewed.

Explore commercial reupholstery

Start with the wall and its surroundings.

Provide wall dimensions, elevations and the location of outlets, switches, doors and adjacent furniture. Agree panel sizes, seams and any pattern alignment before fabrication.

The finish and the mounting plan.

Review smooth, channel or tufted upholstery, padding and material selection. Identify the substrate, attachment method and who is responsible for installation. Site conditions need assessment.

Performance requirements belong in the brief.

Share any required material documentation with the project team. Upholstered panels are not automatically acoustic treatment; sound-control claims require a specified and tested system.

What should I send for an estimate?

Send photos or drawings, dimensions, quantities, your location, material preferences and target date. Identify new fabrication or renewal of existing upholstery.

Can I provide my own material?

Ask for a material review before ordering. Confirm suitability, required yardage, usable width, pattern repeats and delivery arrangements.

What affects the cost and schedule?

Construction, dimensions, quantity, material availability and the extent of repairs affect the scope. Confirm delivery, installation and the project schedule in the written estimate.
