Upholstery vs. reupholstery.
Upholstery is the covering, padding and related work that finishes furniture. Reupholstery renews that work on furniture you already own. Commercial upholstery can describe both services; here, we separate new projects from renewal so you can choose the right scope.
New upholstery
Start with a new design or an unfinished frame. Specify the dimensions, cushioning, material and finish before fabrication.

Start with existing furniture. Assess the covers, foam and structure, then agree what will be retained, repaired or renewed.

Send drawings of the bench, seat depth, back height and support construction. Identify whether the upholstery is fixed or removable and confirm who supplies the frame or millwork.
Make cushions fit the way the seating is used.
Discuss cushion thickness, support, attachment and cleaning access. Approve dimensions and material samples before production; templates may be needed for irregular shapes.
Renew existing built-in seats.
Provide photos of the seat, back and underside where accessible. Assess foam and support as well as worn covers. Confirm access, removal and installation responsibilities in the scope.
